"Real Experience. Real Listening. Real Results."
A Melbourne neighbor, aerospace & real estate professional, public servant, and longtime Brevard community leader — ready to bring serious expertise to Melbourne's City Council.
About Milo
Milo Zonka, MPA, PMP®, CFP®, C.M., is a senior real estate and strategy executive with more than 20 years of experience working in and for the communities of Florida's Space Coast. He is a Melbourne resident who has dedicated his career — and much of his personal time — to making Brevard County a stronger, smarter, and better-connected place to live.
From his work as Spaceport Integration Manager at SpaceX — working to safely grow commercial space to help advance America's leadership in space — to his years as VP of Strategic Growth at Sheltair Aviation growing and strengthening a 60-year old family business, Milo understands how to turn complex challenges into results.
Before that, as Chief Financial Officer for the Brevard County Property Appraiser, he led a 105-person office through major technology and organizational reform — balancing fiscal discipline with genuine public accountability.
Milo holds a Master of Public Administration from UCF, a B.S. in Aviation Management from Florida Tech, and holds a FAA Commercial Pilot certificate. He brings both the boardroom and the ballot box to every decision.
Milo and his wife, Dr. Kristine Zonka, have lived on the Space Coast for 25+ years, raising their children — now all adults — and working and volunteering in the community. Kristine is the former Brevard County Commissioner serving Melbourne and currently leads the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County and is a governor-appointed Trustee for Eastern Florida State College.
What Matters to District 2
Melbourne is growing fast. Milo will use his experience and commitment to openness and fairness to keep development smart and beneficial to existing residents — with thoughtful zoning and infrastructure that keeps pace with growth.
The Lagoon defines our quality of life. Milo supports working with Brevard County, the Save Our Indian River Lagoon work program, our Florida legislative delegation, and neighborhoods across the city to accelerate water quality investments, responsible stormwater management, and holding polluters accountable — while protecting Melbourne's long-term economic value as the Harbor City.
Safe roads, maintained sidewalks, and functional drainage are baseline expectations — not political achievements. Milo will prioritize capital planning that's disciplined, transparent, and results-focused for every neighborhood.
Florida's Space Coast is a global economic powerhouse. Milo will work to strengthen the connection between the City of Melbourne, the Melbourne Orlando Int'l Airport, the aerospace, tech, and aviation industries and the residents and small businesses that form the backbone of our city — for today's workforce and for our kids and grandkids to be able to work in and call Melbourne home.
Having served as a public-sector CFO, elected official, and as advocate for open meetings and accessible government — in Melbourne — Milo knows that government works best when it's open, financially disciplined, and focused on delivering real services — not getting caught up in personal dramas or petty politics. He'll bring that standard to City Council.
A safe community is a thriving community. Milo supports well-resourced, professionally led Melbourne Police Department and Melbourne Fire Department alongside compassionate, practical approaches to homelessness and mental health that address root causes and protect neighborhoods.
Governance & Public Service
Our City
Melbourne sits at the heart of one of America's most dynamic regional economies. Anchored by the aerospace and defense industries — with neighbors like Lockheed Martin, L3Harris, and the Kennedy Space Center complex nearby — the city offers a rare blend of high-tech employment and small-business vitality. A growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, supported by the Melbourne Orlando International Airport innovation corridor and proximity to Port Canaveral, makes Melbourne an increasingly attractive destination for startups, skilled professionals, and established firms alike.
Melbourne's cultural identity is as rich as its natural surroundings. The historic downtown district along New Haven Avenue pulses with independent restaurants, art galleries, live music venues, and the beloved Eau Gallie Arts District — one of Florida's most vibrant creative neighborhoods. From the Brevard Symphony Orchestra to the King Center for the Performing Arts, Melbourne punches well above its weight culturally, all set against the backdrop of the Indian River Lagoon and just minutes from Atlantic Ocean beaches.
Melbourne is home to Florida Institute of Technology, a nationally ranked research university with deep ties to the aerospace sector, and is served by some of Brevard County's highest-performing public schools. Residents share a genuine sense of community — from neighborhood farmers markets to local sports leagues. For families, young professionals, and retirees alike, Melbourne offers the rare combination of opportunity and livability that keeps people rooted and draws new neighbors in.
